What makes natural perfume so special?
The notes which make up natural perfume compositions have life force, a fact which is verifiable using Kirlian photography. A Kirlian photo of an essential oil shows a great array of colors, whereas a Kirlian photo of a synthetic is totally blank. This makes natural perfume all the more precious and fleeting. Fragrance chemicals smell exactly the same every time; that’s the worst thing about synthetic perfume, also, the fact that it can be overpowering and the sillage can be too great.

How is the natural perfume fragrance on the skin?
Natural perfume changes dramatically during the time it’s on your skin. What starts out as one scent, when the top notes reach your consciousness, becomes a very different scent as time moves you into the heart notes, and something new again entirely as you reach the lasting base notes. Witnessing this dramatic dynamism is one of many great natural-perfume joys.
Will the scent be overpowering in its natural state?
Another great joy of natural perfume is that the experience is always an intimate experience, only for you and those you love. Natural perfume is only experienced by others when they hug or kiss you. This enhances the sensual nature of perfume.
How long has the natural perfume product been on the shelf?
We make all our perfume by hand in small batches; a great deal of attention is paid to every item we make.
How do I make the fragrance last longer?
Natural perfume, by nature, stays close to the skin (it has low sillage) and isn’t as long-lasting as regular perfume. There are two things you can do to enhance your natural-perfume experience: 1) apply perfume to a handkerchief, scarf, etc. Perfume lasts much longer on fabric and paper than on skin (you can feel free to scent all your letter paper with natural perfume), and 2) carry around a small bottle or a small tin of one of our perfumes and be ready to embolden your life at any moment.
I’m not sure if I like the fragrance I ordered, may I get an exchange or refund?
There is a great deal of variation in natural perfume, due to the fact that each batch of a given aromatic can smell radically different from the one before it. Therefore, it is unlikely that Lord Jester’s perfumes will always smell the same. That’s one of the best things about natural perfume: they’re made with aromatics which have actual life force. That makes natural perfume all the more precious and fleeting.
One of the truly fantastic things about natural perfume is that each batch can smell different from the one before it. Therefore, Lord’s Jester has this policy: If you’ve tried a sample but don’t particularly like the bottle we send you, simply return the product and we will refund 1/3 of your money. If you haven’t bought a sample, unfortunately, we cannot offer a refund of any kind.
