The Legend: This goddess ruled and illuminated the Night, and had three faces. The first face was the crescent moon: young, innocent and just beginning to shine and grew slowly and steadily. As she waxed, her power grew (over both men and animals and even the tides) until she became full and was at the height of her power and brightness. The second face was that of the Full Moon: bursting with brilliance and lighting up the whole night sky, a time for celebration and no fear of what may lurk in the shadows and when men feel her pull on even the waters in their blood and give themselves over to the “wild”. Her third face is that of the waning and darkening moon: the ancient and mysterious side. Her light wanes a little more each night, leaving the world in true darkness once a month, while she attends to her needs.
The Fragrance: This is the darker side of the moon. A barefoot walk in a woodland glen as a tiny sliver of the waning moon hangs low on the horizon. The scent the cool night embraces you, as hints of sharp greens and leaves caress your skin. Night blooming flowers and smooth spicy undertones tease you playfully. You have become one with the night, in all her shadowy beauty. The dew drips off of a purple iris, carnations add a hint of mystery as osmanthus exudes a honey-sweet nectar. Ambergris and a dark vanilla cloak you in decadence, as a silvery nocturnal musk, like the kiss of Selene herself, remains on the skin, haunting you. The fragrance of the waning moon, a scent for those who do not fear the night or what may be in the shadows and see the beauty in things that others may not.
Because Selene is more concentrated than the other three CDPs, it’s slightly more expensive.
